Mount Washington Cog Railway Foliage Trip
This program is currently unavailable. Click here to view all of our current programs.
This 3-hour train ride will bring us to the top of Mount Washington, which is the highest summit in the northeastern US. The railway is the world’s first mountain-climbing cog railway and was invented and built by New Hampshire native Sylvester Marsh, opening in 1869. “The Second Greatest Show on Earth!” That’s what showman P.T. Barnum proclaimed in 1869 as he stepped down off the train and marveled at the view from Mount Washington’s rocky summit. High praise indeed from the man whose grand circus occupied the primary spot
Today, more than 150 years later, the Mount Washington Cog Railway continues to thrill passengers from all over the world with its dramatic ascent to the summit of the highest peak in the Northeast. The Cog is the first mountain-climbing cog railway in the world, and the only one currently operating in North America.
There will be limited facilities available at our layover stop. It will depend on the weather as to which station the train will choose.
For Lunch: We will stop at Subway in No. Conway on our way to the station and grab a sandwich that we can eat while on the train. Lunch is on your own.
Mask Requirements: Must be worn on the bus and on the train.
Registration closes Tuesday, September 28th.
